ZOZULIA
REALISM

Volodymyr Zozulia (b. 1966, Kharkiv, Ukraine) is a contemporary figurative painter whose work merges classical discipline with a direct, emotionally charged visual language.
Volodymyr graduated with honors from the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute as a theoretical physicist and went on to build a distinguished career as the CEO of a major company. Closely connected to the Kharkiv art milieu for decades, he maintained long-standing relationships with local artists and formed a private collection of Ukrainian painting.
His entry into art was unexpected. After a right-hand injury in 2018 ended his ability to play the piano — an instrument he had mastered with dedication — Volodymyr redirected his focus toward painting. During the full-scale russian invasion in 2022, he remained in Kharkiv, relearning fine motor skills with his left hand and developing his own painterly practice. Working under the conditions of war, Volodymyr forged a distinctive artistic voice marked by precision, psychological tension, and uncompromising sincerity. His paintings are created without concession or restraint, often literally under bombardment, transforming the act of painting into a statement of resilience and artistic autonomy.
